Behind Nike Inc. moonshot project to beat a two-hour marathon, a Shawnee company helped its athletes near this lofty goal. Hans Rudolph Inc., a longtime maker of respiratory valves, designed the mask Nike (NYSE: NKE) used to measure its athletes' maximum oxygen consumption and respiratory rate to help optimize their training.
Nike used Hans Rudoph's dark blue 7450 Series masks in conjunction with technology from Cosmed, a cardiopulmonary diagnostics company based in Rome.
